Who I saw in Columbia during True/False 2026 Before a screening of First They Came for My College. My neck lowkey broke because of this angle

Okay obviously I could not take a photo of everyone I saw. I wanted to take a lot more pics, but I either forgot or didn’t have the courage to ask. Making this post was a wake up call to how much I yap and get sidetracked. I was going through pictures and realized I never photographed half the people I asked, probably because we were yapping. If you’re reading this and I asked for your pic, but don’t see yourself here... my bad, hope our yap was fire. I’ll get you right next year 💯

Even if there were no documentaries, no parties, no music, no free food... even if we were locked up in the Khia Asylum with no contact with the outside world (kind of like Jersey Shore if they were locked in Karma) (Jersey Shore cast = us) (Karma = Uprise) (onika = burgers), this weekend would have been incredible just because of the people. I say this too much, but True/False is the most magical time in Columbia. Mizzou friends that moved away come back, artists and filmmakers fly in from all over, and friends and artists from St. Louis all end up in the same place for a few days.

Also in making this, I memorized and learned how to spell everyone’s instagram handles... helpful things to know in 2026.

Buffalo Chicken Slice from Pizza TreeThis was the best slice ive ever had from the Tree. Maybe ever in my life... okay nah its not better than Dominos pan white sauce chicken bacon onion but U gotta get it. Every day i wonder how Shakespeares beat this. Working at Shakes was awesome while it lasted, but every shift meal i had was some cardboard. Shakes pizza is not pizza. Now this slice... that’s some real ass (westernized) pizza.

Shoutout these cameras... they made documenting this weekend possible. Most of these portraits were taken on the Pentax UC-1, followed by the Sony Cybershot dsc tx1 (not pictured) (because i took this photo on it) (if you want to see it, scroll up to Megan’s photo. She is holding it) then my iPhone 15 Pro, then lastly the Big Mini 201. These are small cameras and i would not be able to capture any of this without having that shit readily available in my pocket. #gear #reveal
YouWhether you were at True/False, wanted to be there and couldn’t make it, or are on the other side of the state, country, or the world hearing about it for the first time, thank you for reading to the end! Ideally and narcissistically, i wanna say i do all this for myself... but that is not true. There is no point in documenting or collecting stories if they cant be shared. The internet is supposed to be for connection, for building bridges that dont gaf about geographic, financial, political barriers. But in 2026, my ig scroll consists of nonchalant but clearly curated flexposts between ads for david protein bars and uber eats.

I want to be seen and heard like everyone else, but i am scared of sharing myself on that platform (instagram). This site is sharing my thoughts, my humble midwest life, and things im lucky to experience. Even if we are strangers or if you are hate-reading this, you give this meaning and i appreciate that more than you know.
